燃料flow meters can be large or small, depending on the product being metered and the rate of flow. Fuel flow meters can be supplied with a mechanical or electronic display with reset facility. The LCD can also indicate accumulative total, batch (reset) total and rate of flow.

If you need to pump large quantities of fuel out of a truck into a storage tank at a fuel depot or mining site for instance, a large flow meter would be preferable to get the job done quickly. However, a small flow meter would be a better option when for example: additives being added to the mix during the manufacturing process.

Small capacity gear meters such as the Flomec or Macnaught positive displacement (PD) meter are ideal for many uses including clean fuels and oils and have a high degree of accuracy. Fuel flow meters made from aluminum are usually chosen for petroleum based products while stainless steel is good for aggressive products.

Portability may be a factor for some applications, so the selection of a compact fuel flow meter such as a Flomec Industrial Turbine Meter may be the ideal option when metering fuel from tank to tank.
